Local knowledge
Seaford is a town of 22,862 in the parish at the 2011 census, at a density of 3,613 per square kilometre — dense for the coast. It sits east of Newhaven and west of Eastbourne, on the A259.
It was a medieval Cinque Port, included under the Limb of Hastings, and was repeatedly attacked by French forces between 1350 and 1550. Rather more relevant to a clearance is what happened in the twentieth century: many of the independent preparatory schools closed after the 1960s and their land was built over with new housing estates.
That leaves a genuinely mixed stock — older seafront and town-centre property alongside later estates on former school grounds — and the two are different jobs. The estates give driveways and room to work; the older streets mean street parking and tighter stairs. The road name is more useful to us than the postcode.
Seaford is now largely a dormitory town serving larger centres, and the coast from here to Beachy Head is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Properties towards Seaford Head sit on rising ground with limited turning space, so it is worth flagging the approach when you enquire.
